Yes. The I-CWIK is designed for multiple uses with proper cleaning and maintenance.
Yes, it fits industry-standard emergency medical stretchers, baskets, and trolleys.
Rinse with lukewarm water, clean with a 0.5% chlorine solution, and air dry at room temperature (18-25°C). If heavily contaminated with body fluids, dispose of as clinical waste per local regulations.
However, if the I-CWIK becomes heavily contaminated with body fluids such as faeces, blood and vomit it should be disposed as clinical waste in accordance with the local regulations.
After cleaning the AQUASEAL zippers YKK we recommend the application of either a lubricant or paraffin wax to maintain the proper waterproof performance. More specific details on maintenance of the zippers can be found on the Official YKK site
Store in a dry, cool, dark place (10-25°C), rolled gently from the bottom zipper, with zippers closed and in the Nereus Medical I-CWIK container bag to maintain waterproof performance.
Store with the zipper completely closed. The storage in an opened position for long period will cause zipper bending.
Please store in the Nereus Medical I-CWIK container bag.

Yes, the I-CWIK is registered as a Class 1 Medical Device ( GMDN – 35474).
Exertional Heat Illness
Exertional Heat Illness (EHI) is a range of heat-related conditions caused by intense physical activity in hot environments, including heat exhaustion, heat injury, and exertional heat stroke (EHS).
Early symptoms include fatigue, nausea, dizziness, headache, and muscle cramps. Severe cases can involve confusion, collapse, seizures, and loss of consciousness.
Heat stroke is a severe, life-threatening condition marked by a core body temperature above 40°C (104°F), neurological symptoms, and requires immediate medical intervention. Heat exhaustion is milder with symptoms like heavy sweating and weakness.
Immediate rapid cooling is critical, with cold water immersion (CWI) recognized as the gold standard treatment to reduce core body temperature quickly and prevent organ damage.
Please store in the Nereus Medical I-CWIK container bag.
It rapidly lowers core body temperature, reducing the risk of death and permanent disability. It is faster and more effective than other cooling methods like ice packs or fans.
The I-CWIK is lightweight, portable, and designed for quick setup to deliver rapid whole-body cooling even in remote or austere environments.
Yes, EHI can affect people in temperate climates during intense exercise or physical labor, especially if humidity is high or there is inadequate hydration.
Prevention includes acclimatization, hydration, monitoring environmental conditions, gradual increase of exercise intensity, and access to rapid cooling methods like the I-CWIK.
Recreational and elite athletes, military personnel, firefighters, construction workers, and others exposed to physical exertion in hot environments.
Untreated EHS can cause permanent brain damage, organ failure, cardiac arrest, or death.
The primary treatment for exertional heat stroke (EHS) in athletes is rapid whole-body cooling to quickly reduce dangerously high core body temperature. Immediate cold water immersion (CWI) is widely recognized as the gold standard treatment. Using devices like the
I‑CWIK® (Ice-Cold Water Immersion Kit), athletes experiencing EHS can be cooled effectively in the field, which dramatically reduces the risk of severe complications, permanent organ damage, or death. Early recognition of symptoms—such as confusion,
collapse, or seizures—is critical to initiate rapid cooling without delay.
The I-CWIK® is specifically designed for portability, ease of use, and rapid deployment in field settings, making it ideal for treating exertional heat stroke outside hospital environments. Its lightweight design allows quick setup by medical personnel, athletic trainers, military teams, or first responders. The kit enables effective cold water immersion cooling anywhere, providing a life-saving intervention in remote or austere conditions where traditional medical equipment may be unavailable.
